Q: What is the EUROCITIES 2010 Zaragoza?
A: EUROCITIES is the network of major European cities that bring together the local governments of more than 140 large cities in over 30 European countries. Each year it holds its annual conference in a different member city and Zaragoza is the proud host for 2010.
EUROCITIES 2010 Zaragoza is a four-day conference, consisting of on-site visits, seminars, presentations and opportunities for debate and of the annual general meeting during which important decisions are taken by the network.

A: This is a four-day event, held in Zaragoza, Spain on 3-6 November 2010.

A: The subject of the EUROCITIES 2010 Zaragoza will be "Successful cities: vision & identity". It focuses on the analysis of how cities develop innovative tools to create a strong identity and to promote themselves at different levels, both nationally and internationally.

A: This first-class conference offers you the opportunity to analysis of how cities develop innovative tools to create a strong identity and to promote themselves al different levels, both nationally and internationally.
All cities, at different points in the process of developing their identity, will have an opportunity to share their ideas on the importance and consequences of building an internationally recognized city brand.

Q: Who may attend the EUROCITIES 2010 Zaragoza?
A: The EUROCITIES2010 Zaragoza, with the exception of the Mayors Debate and closed session, is open to all participants. It is primarily aimed delegates from member cities, i.e. local politicians, officers and experts active in the EUROCITIES network.
Additional participants will be members of the press, representatives of the European Institutions and organizations and business partners

Q: What is the expected number of participants?
A: Attendance is expected to be around 400 people.

Q: What is the annual general meeting?
A: The annual general meeting is for the full and associate members only.
 

Q: What are the EUROCITIES elections?
A: Each city can vote to elect members to the EUROCITIES Executive Committee. Information on candidates and the voting form will be sent by email. Votes are cast at the election desk at the entrance of the conference venue and the results announced during the annual general meeting. Only EUROCITIES full and associate members are entitled to vote.
 

Q: What are the visa requirements for Spain?
A: Visas are NOT required for passports of any of the following countries, regardless of purpose and/or length of stay in Spain:

  • The European Union
  • Iceland
  • Norway

Q: What is the currency in Spain?
A: Euro (€).

Q: What will the weather be like?
A: Zaragoza has a continental, semi-arid climate but shows characteristics of a Continental Mediterranean climate. In winter the temperatures are low (usually 0 to 10°C) either because of the fog (about 20 days from November to January) or a cold and dry wind blowing from the NW, the Cierzo on clear days. Frost is common and there is sporadic snowfall.

Q: What kind of power adaptor does Spain use?
A: The Spanish domestic power system is 220 or 225 volts AC. Standard continental two pin plugs and three pin plugs (with earth) are used. A two pin plug will fit in a three pin socket.
