MAYOR'S DEBATE: THE HIGHS AND LOWS OF CITY RANKINGS

At least 30 such global ranking systems exist. Most assess specifics, such as academic excellence, retailing or the quality of hotels. Others combine a range of indicators to represent ‘liveability’ or ‘quality of life’. Since all these are dimensions of a successful city, these rankings, while not an end in themselves, have become increasingly used to track the impact of city development strategies. The Mayors Debate will take place on Friday 5, November 9.00 – 10.30 at the Pablo Gargallo Museum and only politicias are allowed to participate.

'FAIR OF CITIES' EUROCITIES 2010 ZARAGOZA

Our main objective is to create a unique space where cities can offer information about themselves as well as showcasing their attractive and main projects to EUROCITIES 2010 Zaragoza participants, inhabitants of Zaragoza and visitors. This event will take place from 3 to 6 November on the Paseo de la Independencia. Located in the heart of Zaragoza, this artery connects the historical district with the city center and is one of the most frequented streets of Zaragoza, plenty of commercial and entertainment activities. The City of Zaragoza will set up one stand per city (measures: 3 meters length, 2 m wide and 2,75 m high) as shown in the following pictures. The external decoration of the stands will follow the guidelines of the corporate image created for EUROCITIES 2010 Zaragoza, identifying clearly the name of the city located in each stand. Each participating city will be responsible for personalising the interior of the stand, provide the necessary staff to be at the stand during the opening hours fixed by the EUROCITIES 2010 Zaragoza organising team, and assume the costs associated with its promotional activity (flyers, DVD, screen, etc).We consider this activity an excellent complement to the EUROCITIES 2010 Zaragoza programme, really interesting for all participants, which will have a space to promote themselves in Zaragoza.
For more information, please contact to info@eurocities2010.eu before 24th September.

EUROCITIES 2010 ZARAGOZA

The theme of this year’s conference will be Successful cities: vision and identity. The current crisis is obliging local authorities to develop innovative tools in order to recover economic growth and prosperity. During the recession cities that have made use of the good years to reinvent themselves and build a strong identity are more confident of weathering the crisis than cities that have yet to succeed in repositioning their economic role and reputation. From the background of Zaragoza own experience, the conference will focus on how building this identity and using city branding and marketing can reinforce strategic plans for growth and prosperity by attracting investment, business, culture, people and tourism. See you in Zaragoza!
