The municipality of Zaragoza is the institution in charge of the administration of this city of Aragon, Spain. The municipality's leader is the mayor of Zaragoza, who is democratically elected since 1979.

The municipality building is situated downtown in the so-called Pilar Plaza, between the Basilica with the same name and the Lonja. It is a building built and inaugurated in 1965, even if the project was launched in 1941, in which we could stress its facade, which imitates the Aragonese Reinassance,as well as its mudejar ceiling, its staircase and its lounges.

  • Auditorium of Zaragoza

The Congress Palace is with a surface of 22,739 m2, a first-class facility supporting the social and cultural life of the city since their opening in 1994.

Different events can be organized there: music concerts, conferences, conventions, various sectors exhibitions and shows, important business meetings, and any kind of political and social act. The complex is used continuously for most of the year. After the construction of the
new Conferences Hall in the Expo site and the new private conference facilities built in the city, a wider and more varied music and arts programme will predictably be offered in Zaragoza.

The Mozart Hall is the most emblematic due to its design, capacity and acoustics and has 1,992 seats as its maximum capacity.

  • Bridge Pavilion

The Bridge Pavilion is a major landmark and one of the most important buildings constructed for the International Fair in 2008 on “Water and Sustainable Development”. It was designed by the famous British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid; the first and only woman awarded the Pritzker Achitecture Prize. This stylish bridge over the river Ebro, 270 metres long, served as the entrance to the Expo site, as well as an exhibition area, hosting the exposition “Water – a unique resource”.

The bridge has been the scene of several car ads due to its spectacular design, such as Audi, Rolls Royce and Peugeot. In 2012 it will house a museum of new technologies, managed by the Aragonese financial institution IberCaja, who have described this masterpiece of engineering as "The Ponte Vecchio of the 21st Century”.

  • Principal Theatre

During centuries XX and XIX the Principal Theatre has become the privileged place where the meetings of the major theatre companies took place, as well as for ballet and opera. Since its foundation, the most prestigious names of the world scene left their trace in the first coliseum of the city.

It is the main and most emblematic theatre of the city, able to seat 1,100 people. The Teatro Nuevo, today Teatro Principal, was opened in its present location in 1799. It underwent different refurbishing actions in 1858, 1870 and 1940, and the last one in 1987. During the last one, a complete redistribution of the space inside and a technological upgrading was carried out and the space at the back of the theatre was also remodeled.

  • Pablo Gargallo Museum

This monographic museum is devoted to the work of the great Aragonese sculptor, who died in 1934. It was opened in 1985 in the Late-Renaissance Palace of the Counts of Argillo. It was created thanks to an agreement between the city of Zaragoza and the daughter of the artist who donated the collection to the city through the Gargallo foundation. It includes sculptures, drawings, documents and interesting cardboards (peculiar templates or stencils used by Gargallo to make his works).

Besides creating a batch of documents of the sculptor in question, the Council of Zaragoza manages a wide program of activities for the Museum, standing out the development of didactic activities and the planning of temporary exhibitions, especially the ones related to the contemporary sculpture.

It closed in 2007 to have renovation works done in order to extend the exhibition area, and was reopened in 2009.
